Introduction
Sanhe BAM series medium voltage three phase shunt capacitors are used in 50 Hz / 60 Hz AC power system. They are mainly used to improve system power factor, improve power quality of power grid, reduce voltage drop, reduce circuit loss, enhance system transmission capacity, give full play to the efficiency of power generation, transmission and power supply, and are widely used in power grid and industrial and commercial power users.
Sanhe medium voltage three phase shunt capacitors are designed for power factor correction and harmonics filtration at medium voltage. They are all-film dielectric - polypropylene foil impregnated with an environmentally friendly, non-toxic biodegradable insulating oil. There is the aluminium foil as the electrodes. This construction assures minimal looses of the capacitors. Three-phase capacitor are in star - Y connection, The capacitors have internal discharge resistors.
Feature
Polypropylene film adopts double-sided roughening manufacturing technology, low loss, good insulation performance, and the loss tangent value at 20℃ is not more than 0.02%.
The aluminum foil adopts edge folding technology and salient pole design to improve the electric field distribution, reduce the contact resistance, and improve the stability and service life of the capacitor.
The impregnant is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, high aromatic, low viscosity, low freezing point, low dielectric constant, low partial discharge, and long life.
The shell is made of high-quality steel plate by bending and welding, using advanced stamping technology, smooth and beautiful, and high mechanical strength.
Built-in discharge resistor, when cut off from the power supply, the remaining voltage on the capacitor can be reduced from √2UN to 75V and below within 10 minutes.

Why using single star connection instead of double star connection in the small capacity capacitor bank?
1. In engineering design, when the capacity of a single capacitor compensation device is too large so that no suitable fuses cannot be matched,the double star wiring should be selected to reduce the branch current of this capacitor bank. (the capacitor bank can be composed by several single capacitor compensation devices)
As description of clause 5.2 of IEEE std C37.99-2012. 2 and clause 5.2.3, the double star wiring is only used for capacitor bank with its single capacitor compensation device of above 4650kvar.
When the capacity of single capacitor compensation device is small, it is more suitable to use a single star wiring method with simple structure and high reliability.
